Learn how to post all sorts of events and group activities. Get your next event out there!

Whether its organising a group activity or just posting an event, the creation process is the same. Prior to accessing the activity form for the first time, you will be prompted to setup one of the following profiles:

  • An Interest, Hobby or Community Group
  • An About us page for your business or organisation
  • An Organiser profile

Where posting Group or About page events, access the new activity form from the group/page. To post all other events, use any of the Post an Event links found on the site. At the activity form, you’ll see all the usual fields, more on these below.

Activity Form

You can create all sorts of events, be they one-off or recurring. If an event is set to repeat, or multiple dates are selected, you will need to login to your Community Meets account on a regular basis, to confirm activity details remain valid, otherwise these events maybe stop running; don’t worry, we’ll send you a reminder.

When scheduling repeat events, you will need to select an End Date. You can extend these events by updating the End Date at your Event Manager ‘Scheduled’ list.

Activity Name

To help an event stand out our activity list, choose a short yet descriptive name and include an image, preferably free of marketing material, that clearly depicts the type of event.


At the Registrations field, you can direct people interested in your event to register on the activity page, with a third party, or if make registration optional. Where redirecting to a 3rd party booking page, you will need to enter that page’s URL.

Optional fields

Restrict Numbers – Set a maximum number of attendees and activate a wait list. When active, members will be notified if places become available after the maximum number of attendees is reached. This feature only works members must register o the activity page.

Private Activity – These can only be posted from a Private Group or About page.  Your page’s privacy status can be changed to Private at page settings, this action is irreversible! When posting private events, members, contacts added at Event Manager and those invited by the page owner/admin/activity organiser can view activity details, provided they are signed in, otherwise location and description details remain hidden. Others may request to attend private events, if approved, they become a page members/follower and in turn have unrestricted access to all content.

Attach Documents – Attach supporting documents, compatible files are: word, page, pdf, jpg, png.


Help others locate your event, on and offsite by adding several words to describe the event. Make sure you separate each word with a comma.


After completing the activity form, you’ll progress to a summary of key event details. Here you can save the activity as a template, should you to wish to recreate the event in the future, and post your event. Note that there may be a delay before some or all events  are posted and/or marked on the activity calendar. This is due to the creation and approvals process.


There a two ways to import and recreate a saved event, firstly, at the New Activity form, the template will be available in the drop down menu associated with the Activity Name field, select the template to import data back into the form, update the start date and time and proceed straight to the summary.

The other way to import or manage saved templates is by visiting your Event Manager ‘Saved’ list.

When importing a recurring event, that is also running, some frequency scheduling options may not be available, this is to avoid event duplication. To recreate such events, the activity name must be changed.

When things change

To edit a one-off or single event, locate the event in your Hosting folder, or Event Manager ‘Upcoming’ list, visit the activity page and select ‘Edit Activity’ from the page menu to access the activity form. Here you can edit event details; only members that have registered on-page or who are following the event will be notified of a change!

If an event is recurring, to update all events in a single action, locate the at Event Manager ‘Scheduled’ list, use the import icon to import details back into activity form and edit details. All associated events will be updated; only members that have registered on-page or who are following the event will be notified of a change!

Updates and Reminders

At the activity page, select Post Update from the page menu to send members that have registered on-page or who are following the event a message.

Members that are register on-page as attending, or following an event automatically receive activity reminders. Those yet to respond to an invite can be sent one reminder, this can be done at the activity page by selecting ‘Reminder’ from the page menu.
