About
Join Beci Orpin in collaboration with the Jewish Museum to celebrate two of Mirka Mora’s passions: creating and french food. Using paper and glue and paint you can learn how to make classic french ingredients such as leeks, camembert, dijon mustard and baguettes in 3d form.
This workshop is presented to celebrate MIRKA at the Jewish Museum of Australia (Feb 14 – Dec 19).
The late, cherished Mirka Mora survived the Holocaust, emigrated from France in the 1950s, energising the Australian art world, and invigorating Melbourne’s food culture. They settled at the “Paris end” of Collins Street establishing the Mirka Café, Balzac Restaurant and Tolarno French Bistro, redefining Melburnians appreciation and understanding of classic French cuisine.
Beci Orpin is a Melbourne based artist, designer, author and all round incredible crafter who will guide participants through the process of creating beautiful paper versions of classic French ingredients.
This session is best suited for ages 10+ and adults and families are most welcome to join in! A good opportunity to be a big kid again.
This event is free, and wheelchair-accessible.
